Solar Energy Contractors in British Columbia, by city

This page lists every British Columbia city and town with its own page on this directory. A city gets a page when at least three listed solar energy contractors are based there, and Vernon has one as well. The number beside each city is how many businesses its page shows.

Many towns in the province have one or two solar companies and no more. Those businesses are not dropped. A business in a town close to a city page is shown on that page, with a note on its card saying where it is based. A town more than 40 kilometres from every city page keeps a small page of its own, listed under Smaller towns below. That is why Telkwa, Dawson Creek, Golden and the Kootenay towns appear on their own.

Every city page is ordered the same way. Paid featured and best-of positions come first and are marked as paid. Next come the businesses whose own websites confirm they install solar panels. Electricians and roofers whose sites do not say follow. Inside each group the order is by Google rating and number of reviews, so a business with a long record of good reviews sits above one with a single five-star review.

Two things differ from one part of the province to another. Electrical permits are issued by the city in Burnaby, Surrey, Victoria, Vancouver and a few other municipalities, and by Technical Safety BC almost everywhere else. And the grid connection runs through BC Hydro or FortisBC depending on the area, with different rules for credits and system size. Ask the installer which applies to your address before you compare quotes.
